The legendary actor Alan Rickman died at age 69 because of his cancer. He leaves a career with truly notable titles. Among which the Harry Potter series, in which he played one of the main characters, Severus Snape. The last of these was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
Roles in films like ‘Love Actually’, ‘Sense and Sensibility’, ‘Robin Hood’ or ‘Die Hard’, are an example of the variety of titles in all that was involved in his long career in cinema and theater.
He studied art, but soon made the leap to the stage. He passed from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In 1995, he made his debut in the film directing with the acclaimed drama “The Winter Guest”. On the following year he would resume work in the film “A Little Chaos” where he was reunited with Kate Winslet as a leading actress.
“Roles win awards, not actors”, claimed the actor. “Actors are agents of change. A film, a piece of theatre, a piece of music, or a book can make a difference, it can change the world”. Quotes like these made him one of the most beloved players in the United Kingdom and Hollywood.
Although the public knew him eminently for roles of villain,, at least in the big blockbusters, always he proved capable of achieving all kinds of records. One of the last films in which he took part was ‘Alice in Wonderland 2’. Alan Rickman, rest in peace.
